Roleplay 101

Many of you will be new to RPG (Roleplaying games), or have only played roleplay games in game form and not forum form. this thread is for vets to give pointers and for noobs to ask questions on how to make rp flow nicely.

my first pointer is to take things slow, tell a story. instead of saying i went to the shop and bought potion ingredients. take it one step at a time, as if it is you there...

say Nokia Landermatheson entered Kinder's Garden if potion supplies with the list of ingredients in her hand. The shop smelled of sweet herbs, it brought back such fond memories of the old potions class she attended.....

see one step at a time...

gazing into the distance for a second, reliving her memories of the boy that sat just infront of her, she snaped herself out of the daze and walked over to the counter 'excuse me, do you have all of this in stock' she said handing the list to the shop clerk
..(that was fun)

The Clerk seemed as if he was extremely busy and did not hear her.

"Excuse me" She asked again.

The Clerk turned around. "I am sorry ma'm, were you waiting long? May I help you? The Shop has been bustling for the upcomming school year." He said.

"It is ok, do you have the items on this list?" She asked again.

'why i can most certainly check for you, we probably do have it' he said with a small smile glancing over the items listed

'well well well, we certainly do, would you like me to gather them for you?'

"No, I see that you are very busy, if you could just point me in the right direction I can gather the things myself. But, thank you for the offer" She replies.

The clerk smiles and points to the back of the shop. As Nokia looked she noticed a wall of jars and Measuring devices.

"Thank you", she says as she goes to gather her supplies.
